浦島太郎子 (“Urashima Taroko”) is an alternative manga published 2019 in the manga anthology STUDIO KITSCH Vol. 2.
It is based on the traditional Japanese folk tale Urashima Taro, that tells the tragic love story between a kind and poor fisherman and a sea turtle turned princess. In my adaption the fisher is a fisher woman that falls in love with the under water princess. The central problem of the story is time and the inability of being at two places at the same moment, which I tried to express graphically, re-structuring an illustration of the same fairy tale I had done in color in 2009 for a children book version that had never been published in that format.
