Which criteria have to be met that make human being assume a life-less object was “alive” (or “dead”), further: why do we, even in cases where we are looking at what is obviously a life-less /death-less man-made object, enjoy fooling ourselves?
Other animals communicate through scent, sound, colouration, movement and gesture, but they typically do not create anything other than accommodation for themselves or their offspring. No structure or images are being created for the purpose of communicating (* an exception to this are the courtship structures of bower birds), and within that: consciously communicating their own life experience visually, inclusive self-portraits and depiction of fellow-creatures. Yet this process is so important to human beings that it is the topic of multiple creation mythologies worldwide.
The work is listed here in a piece-by-piece catalogue format, single specimens can be sold/exhibited, but the main exhibition format of this project is arranged in a multiple piece room installation [*see: “Belief and Unbelief“- exhibition, Dohjidai Gallery Kyoto, JP, Oct 2020]; sold pieces are being replaced by different ones added to the project; the project is over time growing and changing.
