The Catalogue of Life and Death is an ongoing long-term project of 3-dimensional objects and sculptures from clay, based on direct 1:1 observation of nature around me, referencing the “Catalogue of Life”, an international collection of taxonomic information and species lists.
The included objects are based on as direct as possible investigation without interpretation or pre-established symbolism on a 1:1 basis, in order to separate fantasy from actual experience; included are common small-scale objects such as stones and twigs, as well as human garbage tossed way in nature, where it over specific periods of time disintegrates, and animals.
The work is listed here in a piece-by-piece catalogue format, single specimens can be sold/exhibited, but the main exhibition format of this project is arranged in a multiple piece room installation [*see: “Belief and Unbelief“- exhibition, Dohjidai Gallery Kyoto, JP, Oct 2020]; sold pieces are being replaced by different ones added to the project; the project is over time growing and changing.
