The piece is showing a man standing at the edge of a rock or man made stone wall, his head raised up into the air, his body leaning forwards as if resisting an invisible force. His face and body appear to be wet, the title “Gischt” (English: “sea spray”) indicates that man is standing my the ocean, leaning against the wind coming from the sea, that is pushing against him, possibly also incoming waves.
Is he going to jump into the waves, or is he enjoying the refreshing force of water in his face and return to the shore smiling in a while? We don’t know as only the next moment here not depicted will bring the answer, and this depends on the opinion of the individual looking at this piece.
