As promised, the missing pictures of my progress so far:
Josiane Keller “puppet heads” (2015)
Josiane Keller “Indian print handkerchief” (2015)
Josiane Keller “a man walking by at Kamogawa” (2015)
(*since the discussion in comments came up, compare it with this photo of Van Gogh with Emile Bernard🙂
Vincent Van Gogh and Emile Bernard at a table along the Seine at Asnieres, Paris (1886)
Similar? Well, anyways.
Josiane Keller “a prototype for Tsuru getting her hair washed” (2015)
Josiane Keller – 目箱 (2015)
Josiane Keller – 目匣 (2015)
Josiane Keller “crane puppet body” (2015)
Josiane Keller “two female puppet bodies” (2015)
Excellent imagery! I like the “a man walking by at Kamogawa” images. For me the image works because I love the wide open space around the man walking and I like the color scheme. Looks a bit American too me?
The puppets seem to be coming along. Kyoto is definitely a good influence for you.
Haha, maybe everything looks American to Americans, I suppose it is the same thing like in life drawing class every painter draws sort of a self portrait. We look at the world as a mirror. The image reminded me of the one famous photo of Van Gogh (with his back to the camera) with his friend, Emile Bernard, at a table along the Seine at Asnieres, Paris, in 1886.
Maybe I will add it to the post, to compare….
interesting…
i was not aware there were any photographs of van gogh….
There is. This one. Recently last summer they came up with another one, if you ask me a total fake, looks nothing like him, but they sold it for a lot of money.
