Before images turned yet a new stock market currency and ‘being an artist’ turned ‘corporate office employee’, what was the original reason why we made pictures?

You may think I am suffering a nervous tick asking the same question over and over again, and I do apologize for the repetition, but until I have a satisfactory answer to this question I cannot continue making art work – or refuse to. (Not that anyone cares, but I still want to know.)
